History:
The Company was established in 1960 to complement the then existing waistband and bias binding division which was in operation from 1957. Commercial Elastic is a company that is part of the Osman Jamal Family Group of Companies that are in business in Southern Africa from early 1900. Mr. G.H Knoche has been part of the company from 1962 and he has been at the helm of all technical operations.
Products and market penetration:
The company operates in a very broad market spectrum supplying to the clothing, shoe, furniture and motor industries with a range of well established Elastic and Non-Elastic products.
Motor industry in South Africa:
South Africa has grown into a mecca for the production of motor vehicles and components in Africa and Commercial Elastic has become very involved in the supply of various types of Elastics, Listing, Gathering Tapes and scalloped PVC/PU piping for the motor vehicle interior manufacturing process.
Technology and operations:
Sound technology coupled with a well organised operation has enabled the Company to excel in the market place. The Company is using Swiss, German, Italian and American Technology that is ongoing to keep to international standards.
Quality control:
Commercial Elastic has established in operation an excellent in-house quality control system which has achieved the ISO 9002 accreditation.
